But for real though, I actually didn’t steal or purposely steal COTD at all. I just saw E90M3 and others saying how we need COTD and I just took the initiative and poof, it’s working out!

This is the real COTD. I see nothing wrong with someone wanting to do their own Oppo COTD, but I think at most, all you need is a post in the morning for nominations and then one to announce the winner. We don’t need reminders about nominations. I’d rather no COTD than one that is constantly spamming us.

Posting in the morning, midday, and an hour before picking a winner still seems like too much to me. Does Jalopnik make 3 posts throughout the day asking for COTD nominations? Of course not.

Why do you think nobody will see your morning post? You don’t know that. We’re all quite capable of scrolling back a few hours and finding your morning post. You just started trying out this idea. Try just making a morning post, with no reposts, and see how it goes.

Well, also because people are in different time zones and all that. Also, people are capable of scrolling back, but also I feel like no one cares enough. But it’s more than likely my paranoia/insecurities kicking in again. Sorry. I’ll try your idea.

Here’s what I’ll do: post the first one midday instead of early like normal, and then repost one hour before COTD as a last call and also to vote. Good? I’m trying to just take the idea of COTD from FP and improve upon it so it’s more fair to the other readers, because numerous times I’ve seen people complaining a ton about the nominations and I just feel like the nominations voting/candidates post would fix that problem.

It’s your thing, so at the end of the day you get to pick a winner. If you start making good posts declaring winners, it will catch on and gain a following.

A lot of people on here write very thorough posts, or share pictures relevant to the community. We don’t want to push their content out of the way by repeatedly asking for the best comments. You should re-read the sharing guidelines for Oppo under the “Rules of the road” tab. I think you’ll find that sharing the same post 4 times a day goes against the spirit of those guidelines.

I’d recommend just a single nomination post around midday, with no reshares. Then declare your winner in the evening, and include a reminder that nominations will open up the following day at midday. That’s all you need.
